The 2009 Laureates.

On October 16, 2009, five entrepreneurs from the Philippines, Nigeria, Iceland, Uruguay and the United States received the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award, a US$ 20 000 grant, one year of coaching as well as unique networking and visibility opportunities.

Four of these projects are still in activity today. At the time of the competition, the youngest of the finalists was 22 and the eldest, 67 – a proof that entrepreneurship is about energy and drive and not a matter of age!

The Coaching

Being a coach is not a one-size-fits-all affair. Each coach brings their individual experience and know-how to the table to guide the finalists in their preparation for the Jury presentation and to assist the Laureates with the essentials of running a business and keeping it thriving. For all concerned, it takes energy, drive and a sincere interest in business and people, for mutually rewarding results.

She managed to take her company through the eye of the financial storm in Iceland by applying 5 traditionally "feminine" values to financial services. In this video, she talks about these values and the importance of balance.
